Fundraising Page for The Village Home Fireflies

Hi there!

Welcome to our fundraising site for the 2008 Toy Challenge Competition and thanks for stopping by.

We, the Fireflies, are a team of home-schoolers from Village Home Education Resource Center, near Portland Oregon, where we take classes such as the Toy Challenge Inventor’s Workshop. Recently, in this class, we worked as a team to invent a new game called Lite Ball that is designed for kids ages 8 and up. We entered our new game into the Toy Challenge competition that was founded by Sally Ride Science and have been selected as a finalist in the competition. This means that we need to travel to San Diego to present our toy to judges from Hasbro and Sally Ride Science and other professionals in San Diego.

This page is intended to help us get there. The total cost for all of our team to go to the competition is about $3000. Our school has sponsored $1000 towards our travel, which leaves us with $2000 that we need to raise in 6 weeks. (The competition is May 31). We are asking for donations from friends, family, and anyone who would like to support our team as a representative of Portland youth in this unique competition.

Feel free to click on the DONATE page to learn the ways you can contribute. Also, please forward the page to others who may have the ability to support our cause.

Sincerely, The Fireflies (Kendra, Paul, Katie, Elise, Charlotte, and Gunnar)
